Fort Glenn: a working history
The ground Okmok works from has a documented past.
Fort Glenn, at the Cape Field area on northeastern Umnak Island, was constructed as a U.S. Army airfield in the early 1940s and played a role in the Aleutian campaign of World War II. It is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, and its runways, revetments, and structures remain part of the island's working landscape today.
Okmok treats that history as an operating responsibility: structures are respected, cultural and archaeological protection procedures are being written into our field protocols, and we present the site as history and operating geography — not as a visitor attraction.
As the company develops, we will publish dated updates here, distinguishing completed milestones from plans.
