The Okmok Brand

Okmok takes its name from the volcano and caldera on northeastern Umnak Island. At 10 kilometers wide, the caldera gives the Okmok brand its low, wide line — restrained, elemental, and tied to a real place.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory records that Okmok's most recent eruption began on July 12, 2008. Its immense, stark, otherworldly terrain is a defining feature of Umnak: a vast volcanic caldera, black ash, open range, and a landscape continuously shaped by storms and volcanic forces.

We are open to branding collaborations with partners who share that standard — extreme and outdoor brands, automotive teams, filmmakers, studios, and storytellers seeking a rare setting for campaigns, productions, and genuine stories.

Umnak's remoteness and harsh weather are not obstacles — they are the asset. In a world where every backdrop has been photographed a million times, an island in the Cradle of Storms that almost no one has ever seen is one of the few truly unique stages left.

And the island is far more than grassland. Umnak carries three volcanoes — Okmok's vast caldera in the northeast, and the peaks of Recheshnoi and Vsevidof rising to the southwest. Around them, raging seas hammer the coast while relentless wind and water carve the volcanic rock into cliffs, black-sand beaches, and sculpted ravines — a landscape actively eroding into forms that exist nowhere else.

Beneath it all, the island is alive. Geothermal springs vent across its flanks, and at Geyser Bight, on Umnak's southwest, erupt the only known geysers in all of Alaska — steaming vents and hot streams in the middle of a subarctic grassland. There is even a beach unlike any other: geothermal energy heats the sand as it sends vapor through the ocean water at the shore. Volcanoes, geysers, storm seas, and open range on a single island: there is no other stage like it.

Product Promotion

Few backdrops on earth say durability, purity, and authenticity like a working volcanic island in the Aleutians. Outdoor gear, apparel, vehicles, field equipment, cameras, and adventure technology all have a story to prove against wind, rain, raging seas, and open volcanic range — one no studio can fake.

02

Commercials & Film

Umnak offers what location scouts spend careers searching for: a vast, treeless grassland, a 10-kilometer-wide caldera, active geothermal sites, black-sand beaches, wild coastlines, and dramatic storm light. It is an extraordinary, uncrowded landscape for filming — with no visual noise and no substitute anywhere else.

03

Storytelling & Documentary

Okmok is a setting for people who make their lives at the edge: explorers, extreme travelers, adventure surfers, mountaineers, filmmakers, photographers, and independent creators. We welcome people with a real point of view who want to build their own brands and social media presence through rare, honest work from a place almost no one has experienced. The stories here are real, rare, and largely untold.
